We recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by NBC News and featured on WPSD‘s ‘What the Tech’ segment! When we were in Nashville for the 2014 National Funeral Directors Association Conference, we were approached by the ‘What the Tech’ guys as they were looking for the latest in tech innovation in the funeral industry. Naturally, they picked us! Also featured were the wonderful LifeGem, making Diamonds out of cremated remains. Thank you WPSD for the feature.

In the next several years, it is anticipated that cremations will outnumber burials in the United States. But not all those ashes wind up in urns.
LifeGem takes cremated remains and uses the carbon to make diamonds. You choose the color and cut and LifeGem creates up to a 1.5 carat diamond from the ashes of the dearly departed.
Tombstones are getting an update too, with QR codes mounted on the memorials. What happens is, you take out your phone, scan the QR code and it will automatically bring up that person’s memorial. Qeepr offers websites where friends and family can post memories, photos and add to a person’s memorial timeline. Some might say it’s a little creepy, while others say it’s beautiful. We are probably saying, “Wow, I didn’t know they could do that.”
