SUMMARY:The Importance of Memorialization: A Conversation & Altar-Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join death educator and doula\, Lauren Seeley of the Silent Book Club of Death along with Amy Shea\, author of Too Poor to Die: The Hidden Realities of Dying in the Margins\, for a meaningful evening of reflection\, conversation\, and creative expression around death and memorialization at Maple Grove Cemetery in the Celebration Hall. \nPresented by the Friends of Maple Grove\, this event will explore how we remember and honor those who have died\, including those who go unclaimed. The gathering will continue with a hands-on altar-making workshop led by Lauren Seeley. Together\, we’ll consider how the rituals of memory and grieving can offer solace for loved ones and reclaim dignity and connection for all who have gone before us. We’ll end with some conversation and book signing! \nBooks will be sold by Kew & Willow books!

SUMMARY:Red\, White and Bruised : A Soft Rebellion
DESCRIPTION:This July 4th weekend\, we’re not celebrating — we’re tending to what’s been scorched and what’s still unfolding. Red\, White & Bruised: The Soft Rebellion is a sound-centered gathering born from the grief in our city — in the wake of fires that choked our skies\, and amid ongoing ICE raids that continue to separate families and spread fear. \nThis is not a party. This is a place to rest. A meditative sound bath for the overburdened and the underheld. A quiet container to lay down your rage\, your grief\, your numbness\, your breath. A space where stillness is protest\, where sound is balm\, and where no one has to explain why they’re tired. Whether you’re mourning a loved one\, grieving what’s happening in our neighborhoods\, or simply surviving the weight of this moment — you are welcome here. Come as you are. Pay what you can. \nLeave softer.
